- A surviving self-propelled gun StuG III from World War II has been discovered in Germany.
An almost completely preserved self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) StuG III from the Second World War was accidentally discovered at the Nordholz naval Airbase in Lower Saxony (Germany). As the Bild newspaper noted on June 13, the car weighs 29 tons and, according to experts, has been lying in the sand for about 80 years.
Despite its age, the equipment is in good condition: the undercarriage parts look almost like new, and remnants of the original camouflage paint have also been preserved.
Archaeologists suggest that after the war, the Allies buried the ACS along with other military scrap metal. Now the armored vehicle is securely protected on the territory of the airbase. In the near future, it will be sent to the German Tank Museum in Munster for restoration. After that, it is planned to present it at the exposition of the Bundeswehr Military History Museum in Dresden.
In November 2025, a German helmet from the Great Patriotic War (WWII) was discovered in the Neva River near the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg. It was found that the helmet was carried by a strong current from the battlefields of Leningrad. The Rosgvardiya press service reported that the Wehrmacht's M40 Stalhelm, which was in a state of severe corrosion, was lifted during a survey of the bottom of the Kronwerk Strait.
