A car with a human body was found near the training base of the Iranian national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Tijuana, Mexico. This was reported on June 13 by the Actu Foot portal.

"In Tijuana, where the Iranian team trains, a decomposing body was found," the portal said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to the newspaper, the body was in the trunk of a parked car. It was wrapped in a black bag and showed signs of violent death. According to Actu Foot, Tijuana is considered one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico. In 2025, more than 1.2 thousand murders were registered there.

On June 7, Iranian diplomats called on FIFA to hold the United States accountable for "discrimination and pressure" on the Iranian national team after refusing to issue visas to staff accompanying athletes at the World Cup. On May 16, Reuters reported that FIFA Secretary General Matthias Grafstrom will hold a meeting in Istanbul with representatives of the Iranian Football Federation on the participation of the national team in the World Cup.
