President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the exclusion of the Russian language from the list of those that are subject to protection in his country. This was announced on June 12 by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.

"The President of Ukraine has signed Law No. 4699-IX <... Russian FAC been excluded from the list of languages to which Ukraine applies the provisions of the Charter," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

Stefanchuk called the decision taken by the Ukrainian speaker important both for the alleged protection of the Ukrainian language space and for fulfilling certain European obligations of Kiev. The decree, as the speaker of the Rada added, is "fair" and represents a "decision on dignity."

Earlier this month, on June 1, the authorities of Poltava in Ukraine imposed a complete ban on Russian-language content in the city. This step was also associated with the protection of the country from the alleged influence of Russia. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed to the deception committed by Zelensky and his followers.

So, she recalled how five years ago, in 2021, the Ukrainian president demonstrated books published in his country in Russian. At that time, he claimed that information about the alleged ban on works in Russian was "nonsense on a cosmic scale." Now such actions, as Zakharova clarified, are indeed taking place in Ukraine.
