Foreign spy turtles discovered in China's marine areas
Chinese intelligence agencies have discovered turtles and fish in China's marine waters, to which sensors were attached that transmitted information abroad. This was announced on June 12 by the Ministry of State Security of China.
"Large live marine animals were found in one of the marine areas of China, to which sensors were attached. Spy underwater inhabitants collected sensitive data on water temperature, salinity, sea currents and other parameters of the marine environment in real time," The Guardian reports.
The Ministry of State Security clarified that we are talking about turtles and fish. In recent years, China's state security agencies have also identified other types of foreign reconnaissance devices, including surface drones and reconnaissance buoys capable of transmitting data on the marine environment, as well as on the activities of warships and submarines.
On February 3, Fox News reported that a group of Republican senators from the United States expressed concern that Chinese electronic cigarettes could be used for espionage and money laundering.
On July 22 last year, Xinhua news agency reported that the Chinese Ministry of State Security had notified citizens about possible surveillance through souvenirs from other countries.
