The director of the carrier company was taken into custody after an accident with four dead in Yekaterinburg. This was reported on June 12 in the press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.

"The director of the transport company AVTO-NOM LLC is accused of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers)," according to a publication in Maks.

Alexey Yarkov, director of a transport company, continues to plead not guilty after a fatal bus accident in Yekaterinburg. He claims that pre-trip inspections of vehicles and drivers were regularly carried out in the fleet, but he does not know the exact cause of the accident.

According to Yarkov, the bus was driven by a Kyrgyz citizen with more than 30 years of experience, to whom there had previously been no complaints. The head of the company suggested that the driver might have tried to "skip the yellow light," but the driver himself said after the accident that he had confused the gas pedals and brakes due to poor health.

According to investigators, the head of the transport company deliberately allowed violations of the bus driver's work and rest regime, not giving him days off to recover and forcing him to work at the limit of his physical capabilities.

The court chose a preventive measure for Yarkov in the form of detention until August 10, 2026. The resolution has not entered into legal force and can be appealed by the parties within three days.

The accident occurred on the evening of June 10 in the Leninsky district of Yekaterinburg near the Bolshoy Zlatoust church. A regular bus collided with a passenger car, after which it drove onto the sidewalk and hit pedestrians. As a result of the accident, four people died on the spot, including a nine-year-old child. Several other people suffered injuries of varying severity.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said on June 11 that the tragedy was provoked by a bus running a red light, and two criminal cases were also opened.

The 49-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle and the 43-year-old director of the company that owned the car were detained. A spontaneous memorial was later formed at the site of the tragedy, where residents of the city carry flowers, candles and soft toys.
