The EP deputy pointed to Slovakia's desire to maintain a dialogue with Russia.
Bratislava advocates maintaining dialogue with Moscow. This was announced on June 12 by Judita Lashakova, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from Slovakia.
According to her, effective interaction should be based on three key principles: the ability to hear the interlocutor, the desire to understand the motives of his position and respect for his opinion.
"You can disagree with her, but you need to respect her," the MEP stressed in an interview with TASS.
In addition, Lashshakova said that the termination of economic ties with Russia would not end well for the European Union (EU).
On May 29, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called for the immediate start of a dialogue between the EU and Russia. He also stated that the parties to any incidents related to the conflict in Ukraine should exercise restraint and avoid inflammatory statements.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on May 21 that the Russian side had never refused to engage in dialogue with the EU. According to her, Russia has repeatedly confirmed at the highest level its readiness to resolve differences with Western countries through diplomatic methods.
