The ISS cosmonauts addressed the Russians on the occasion of Russia Day

On June 12, Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Mikaev, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Andrey Fedyaev, who are on board the International Space Station (ISS), recorded an appeal on the occasion of Russia Day.

"This holiday unites the entire multinational people of our country. It fills our hearts with pride for its great history, rich culture and outstanding achievements," Kud-Sverchkov began.

At the same time, Mikaev noted that the beauty of Russia, its power and vast expanses are especially clearly visible from space. He noted that the strength of the Russian Federation lies in unity and people who raise children, work and build their future in our country.

"Together we are making our country a better place by preserving its great historical past and increasing its wealth," the scientist added.

Fedyaev said that Russia's uniqueness lies in its diversity. Together, people of different faiths and cultures create new things, as well as protect their common Homeland.

"We wish you peace, kindness and prosperity. May there always be room for new achievements in life, and unity and mutual understanding only make us stronger. I wish you happiness, health and success in all your endeavors. Happy holidays!" the cosmonauts concluded their appeal.

Mikaev also noted the symbolism of the situation: the first Space Week is held in the year of the 65th anniversary of the human flight beyond the Earth. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin opened the way to the stars for mankind and forever inscribed his name in history.
