"Serf 3", 18+

The first part of Klim Shipenko's reeducation comedy was released in 2019 and became the highest-grossing Russian film (later the record was broken by Cheburashka). In the center of the plot was the spoiled metropolitan major Grisha, performed by Milos Bikovcia. Tired of the guy's antics, his father decided on an extreme experiment to fix his son. And so the young man gets into an accident and comes to his senses in the past: the year is 1860, and he is an ordinary village groom. In the second episode, the guy became part of a team that helped to re-educate the same guys as himself. The insolent daughter of an official turned out to be among the clients against her will. For the third time, the major correction company is taking on a married couple on the verge of divorce — Boris and Elena Vyazemsky, played by Pavel Priluchny and Kristina Asmus. They will be sent to the era of Peter I.

The film was shot in Russia and Turkey. The creators rebuilt the real ship, making a replica of the sailing ship "Standart", and in terms of the number of action scenes, this part surpassed all previous ones. The actors performed many stunts on their own without the help of stuntmen. The film's budget was a record 1.2 billion rubles.

"Studio of witchcraft hats", 18+

One of the most anticipated anime novelties of this season was the finale of the Studio of Witchcraft Hats. The project has been under development for several years. Due to the visual component and the overall atmosphere, it has been compared to Hayao Miyazaki's "Walking Castle". And charismatic and colorful characters attract the attention of the audience.

In the center of the plot is a girl named Coco, who dreams of becoming a sorceress. One day, she receives magical artifacts from the hands of a stranger. A little later, after seeing the wizard Kifli conjuring, Coco repeats the spells after him. This leads to a tragedy: the girl's house and mother turn into a crystalline block. Kifli decides to help Coco and takes her to the studio of witchcraft hats to teach magic and save her mother.

The crime road movie was created at the peak of the French "new wave", when directors massively abandoned commercial standards and the predictability of the plot, focusing on experimentation. "Mad Pierrot" is one of the most striking films reflecting the spirit of the era.

In the film, Jean Luc-Godard studies the nature of relationships between people. The main character of the film, Ferdinard Griffon, is married to a wealthy Italian woman whom he does not love. His chance meeting with his old friend Marianne changes everything — they decide to give up their usual life and leave. However, even running away does not help them find mutual understanding.

The French director plays with abbreviations, showing how the same things can be interpreted in different ways. And with the help of color meanings, Jean Luc-Godard reflects the falsity of the society in which Ferdinard lived.

"The price of the top", 16+

The passion for mountains is incurable. What is the tragic story of Russian climber Natalia Nagovitsina, stuck on Victory Peak in Kyrgyzstan? The documentary focuses on the famous rock climber Emily Harrington, who, having conquered Mount Everest, sets a new goal for herself — to become the first woman in the world to climb the El Capitan wall in just 24 hours. During the ascent, she gets seriously injured. She faces the question of what price she will have to pay for her dream.

Emily Harrington's mentor is Alex Honnold, whose famous ascent of El Capitan was reflected in the Oscar-winning documentary "Free Solo". The plot of the film excludes fake drama, and all of Harrington's emotions are clearly visible. Without glossy pictures and cinematic tinsel, the film shows the most difficult path of athletes who set themselves a high standard.

Cassandra, 18+

The mystical thriller is inspired by the novel by Genghis Aitmatov "The Brand of Cassandra" and the ancient Greek myth of the Trojan princess. In the center of the plot is a 30—year-old woman Aisulu. Living through personal grief, she suffers from nightmares. The girl seeks her salvation from a healer living in the mountains.

At the beginning of the picture, the viewer sees the heroine only from behind. This technique is used in the acclaimed horror "Behind the Scenes of Reality." The cross-cutting theme of dreams refers us to one of the scenes of the cult horror movie "A Nightmare on Elm Street". And through visual images, the director conveys the emotional state of the heroine and shows how she is influenced by the places she finds herself in.
