Zakharova called the EU's initiatives on Ukraine an obstacle to real negotiations

The so-called "peace" initiatives of the leaders of Great Britain, France and Germany on Ukraine are actually aimed at preventing the conditions for negotiations on a truly lasting peace. This was announced on June 11 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The Europeans are pursuing a course aimed at preventing the creation of conditions for negotiations on a truly comprehensive, just and lasting peace. It is noteworthy that they themselves do not hide this," she is quoted as saying on the ministry's website.

Zakharova recalled the warning of the head of European diplomacy, Kai Kallas, that Europe would never become a neutral mediator between Russia and Ukraine, since it had taken Kiev's position to protect its own interests. Thus, Zakharova added, Europe has admitted that it claims a place at the negotiating table by uniting one delegation of the West and Ukraine against Russia.

During a meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry on June 11, French, British and German Ambassadors Nicolas de Riviere, Nigel Casey and Alexander Lambsdorff pointed out the destructive approach of their countries to the conflict in Ukraine. During the conversation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin explained Moscow's approaches to finding ways to resolve the crisis.

The ambassadors of the Eurotroika countries visited the Russian Foreign Ministry earlier that day. The meeting lasted about 1.5 hours. After its completion, the foreign diplomats announced that they would issue a joint statement on the results. De Riviere called the meeting a good one.
