The memory of those killed in the special operation zone was honored at the Police College in Moscow, where the Eternal ZOV memorial was unveiled. Five names of the cadets and five exploits are forever immortalized in white stone bas-reliefs in the image of cranes. The story of their exploits is told by Izvestia.

We have Roman Voylenko's frontline footage at our disposal: his latest recordings, which he shot for family and friends. He died liberating the Zaporizhia region. In September, his dugout came under heavy fire. He accepted the fight, even though the forces were unequal.

"He never betrayed his friends. Even if someone messed up, they asked: "Roma, report who and what." He never [spoke] because he was a platoon commander," Roman Voylenko's mother, Nadezhda Rusu, said.

This is Roman's first title, which he received while still a cadet at the Moscow College of Police. On this day, every graduate who went to the front and everyone who did not return is remembered here.

Javidan Dumanli barely holds back tears as he lays flowers in front of his older brother Subhan's family name. They went to college together a few years apart. Subhan went on a special operation in 2022, participated in battles in the hottest spots — in Mariupol, Artemovsk, Azovstal, and Kherson.

"He said: "I hear someone screaming, I can't leave. I ask him, "Aren't you afraid yourself?" He says: "What do you mean? What if I stay like this?" — said Javidan.

Once a quiet and modest cadet, Evgeny Fadin is now the pride of the college — he was posthumously awarded the Golden Star of the Hero of Russia. In 2023, under heavy enemy fire, he rushed to help the fighters.

"The most important quality is executive. A man you could always rely on," said Lilia Stepanova, the teacher and organizer of the College of Police.

Their names have become a symbol of heroism and self-sacrifice for the sake of saving their comrades: to help, protect and at all costs complete the task.

"The guys honorably fulfilled their duty, gave their lives, and we consider it our duty that they remain in the ranks of our college forever, so this memorial is dedicated to them," said Sergei Mikhailo, director of the College of Police.

Graduates, as a rule, serve in UAV units: special training that cadets undergo at the college helps. Currently, graduates of the Police College continue to serve in the war zone. There are also cadets who interrupt their studies and go to the front. There are also teachers who take academic leave and go to their military training to support their comrades there.

On May 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the St. George Crosses of the first degree to Nikolai Kumenov and Evgeny Rochev, who for the first time in the modern history of the Russian Federation became full holders of this award. On the same day, Vasily Marzoev and Alexander Ryazanov were posthumously awarded the title of Heroes of Russia. The Russian leader, speaking at the ceremony, stressed that the country honors the memory of those who gave their lives for it.
