Russia and Uganda are jointly developing a diagnostic kit for detecting antibodies to ebolavirus Bundibugio. This was announced on June 11 by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in the Maks messenger.

Rospotrebnadzor specialists arrived in Uganda at the end of May to help contain the Ebola outbreak. The latest PCR tests have been delivered to the country, which are already being used in the Republic and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Russian scientists also trained local specialists in laboratory diagnostic methods.

Two Russian mobile laboratories are involved in the work. On Sunday, June 7, one of them was moved from Kampala to the border with the DRC, the region most affected by the virus. The complex is installed on the territory of the Arua city hospital and is fully operational.

At the same time, the Russian mission expanded its geographical presence in the region. On Friday, June 5, a team of specialists arrived in the Republic of the Congo. Russian tests and reagents for PCR diagnostics have been delivered to Brazzaville, the purpose of which is to prevent the import of fever from neighboring territories.

In Brazzaville, Rospotrebnadzor experts conduct training seminars for local doctors. Joint preventive measures are being organized on the basis of the Russian mobile laboratory, which was delivered to the Congo earlier.

On June 4, Rospotrebnadzor announced that Russia would send a batch of tests to the Republic of Congo to detect the Bundibugio virus and a team of specialists. As noted in the department, diagnostic tools are the latest development of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
