Battles of the First World War with artillery are being reconstructed in Moskino

Large-scale reconstructions dedicated to the life of the Russian Empire on the eve of 1914 will take place in Moskino until June 14, the organizers said. The Film Park has become one of the central venues of the Times and Epochs festival, which will last in the capital until June 14.

The historical program in the park is dedicated to the events of the East Prussian Operation in 1914. Five spectacular battles take place on the site every day, historical equipment, artillery and cavalry are used. About 200 participants are involved in the reconstructions. The events of the First World War unfold in the scenery of the county town: the armies of the opposing sides collide, artillery and machine guns work, and the audience witnesses how peaceful life gives way to harsh military reality. The reconstruction of the battle begins daily at 18:00 Moscow time.

According to Vasily Tartyzhov, the chief coordinator of the Times and Epochs festival, the key task of the site is to show "a cross—section of urban life at the beginning of the 20th century, on the eve and in the first months of the war," when there was a powerful patriotic upsurge in the country. "It is important for us that the viewer, getting into the scenery, felt not just a military camp, but a living city — Moscow at the beginning of the 20th century, with its daily worries, trade, craft, culture and people," Tartyzhov explains.

The streets that are architecturally close to the Art Nouveau era were chosen for reconstruction. There are barracks and exhibition areas, a city apartment, a school, a pastry shop, an atelier, shopping malls and a pharmacy on the site. Newspapermen, shoe shakers, and policemen keep order walk the streets. One of the "Easter eggs" of the site was a stylized newspaper, which is distributed throughout the territory.

The site employs artists who conduct master classes in painting in the spirit of impressionism, which was popular at the time. Guests can see how the visual culture of the early 20th century was formed, and try themselves as Art Nouveau artists.
