Liksutov reported an increase in demand for river electric transport
Since the beginning of summer navigation on the Moskva River, passengers have made more than 250,000 trips on regular electric trains. This is a 20% increase compared to the same period last year, said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
"We continue to improve the capital's water transport within the framework of the Transport Development Strategy until 2030, which was approved by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin," Liksutov said.
The Deputy mayor also recalled the basic safety rules when traveling along the Moskva River. He specified that small vessels should move strictly outside the ship's navigation, while their speed near beaches and recreation areas should not exceed 12 km/h.
Currently, there are four regular river electric transport routes in the capital: Kievsky — Fili Park, ZIL — Pechatniki, Novospassky — ZIL and Luzhniki — Kievsky. The latter was launched recently — it connected the districts of Khamovniki, Ramenki and Dorogomilovo. More than 3.5 million trips were made on the electric vessels of this route.
With the opening of the Luzhniki — Kievsky route, the total length of the regular river routes was about 34 km. In three years, this figure has increased almost fivefold.
As emphasized in the metropolitan Department of Transport, thanks to the development of river electric transport, a new type of urban transportation has become available to more than 1.8 million residents of 22 districts of Moscow. By 2030, it is planned to increase the number of regular routes in the capital to seven, and the fleet to about 60 electric vessels.
