On June 10, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia Igor Krasnov and his colleague from Belarus Andrei Shved discussed the formation of a "seamless" legal space within the Union State.

During the meeting, Krasnov thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the traditional hospitality, noting that the Minsk atmosphere encourages an open and constructive dialogue. He also stressed the significance of the fact that his first foreign visit in his new position took place in Belarus. According to him, this reflects the special nature of relations between the peoples of the two countries.

The head of the Russian Supreme Court also assigned the highest judicial instances one of the main roles in the integration processes. Thus, at the end of April, an agreement on the procedure for mutual recognition and enforcement of court decisions came into force.

"The measures taken will help ensure fairer judicial protection conditions for all citizens and organizations of both countries," he stressed.

In addition, the heads of the judicial instances signed a Memorandum on the basic principles of cooperation between the departments. The document is aimed at further developing and comprehensively strengthening effective cooperation in the administration of justice in civil, economic, labor, family and criminal cases, as well as in other categories of cases under the jurisdiction of the courts of Russia and Belarus.

"The document lays a solid foundation for the harmonization of judicial practice, strengthening the legal protection of citizens and businesses in the Union State, as well as the joint implementation of advanced digital technologies in judicial proceedings," Krasnov stressed.

Krasnov said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko the day before that a unified judicial practice would appear within the framework of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. He noted that cooperation between Russia and Belarus is of a strategic nature and extends, among other things, to the judicial sphere. According to Krasnov, together with the Swede, it was decided to expand cooperation between the judicial systems of the two countries.
