The outstanding Pushkin philologist Ilyichev died in Vladivostok at the age of 63.

Alexey Ilyichev, an outstanding Pushkin scholar and Doctor of Philology, died in Vladivostok at the age of 63. This was announced on June 10 on the website of the Library System of Vladivostok.

"Ilyichev is a man who made Pushkin's heritage an integral part of Vladivostok's cultural and intellectual life. Colleagues, students and the cultural community of Vladivostok will remember him as a man of encyclopedic knowledge, an impeccable researcher and a bright speaker," the message says.

The scientist died on the night of June 9 after a long illness. It is noted that his death was an irreparable loss for the city. The philologist has repeatedly lectured on Pushkin's life and work in libraries and at literary events in the city. In October 2025, he gave a lecture "Pushkin and the Sea" at the eighth festival "Literature of Pacific Russia", launching the first season of the new educational project "Literary School of Libraries of Vladivostok".

Alexey Ilyichev is a graduate of the Russian Department of the Philological Faculty of Leningrad State University named after A. A. Zhdanov. He taught at the Far Eastern State University, as well as at the Humanitarian University of Trade Unions of St. Petersburg. He became the author of a number of monographs and textbooks, as well as more than 60 articles. He was awarded the Pushkin Medal for services to culture, education, literature and art.
