Sales of new Toyota and Mazda in Russia rose sharply in May
Sales of new Toyota cars in Russia in May increased by 102.5%, and Mazda — by 5.2 times. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on June 10.
So, in May, 3,014 new Toyota cars were registered in the Russian Federation, which is twice as many as in May last year (1,488 units). In total, 12.7 thousand new cars of this brand were sold in the country in January-May (+98% YoY).
The most popular Toyota models this year were RAV4 and Highlander (4320 and 4152 units, respectively), the top five also included Camry, Land Cruiser 150 and Land Cruiser 300. 88% of the brand's cars that arrived in Russia were produced in China.
As for Mazda, sales of new brand cars increased 5.2 times in May and reached 1,397 units against 267 units in May last year. In just five months, 9,930 cars were sold, which is 9.5 times more year-on-year (977 units for the same period last year).
The Mazda CX-5 crossover accounted for more than 90% of registrations (8,520 units), and the CX-50 and CX-30 SUVs were also imported into the Russian Federation. 94% of all cars of the brand supplied to Russia were produced in China.
The day before, it was reported that information about the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max crossover, including price lists, had disappeared from the brand's official website in Russia. This may indicate the termination of sales of the model in the Russian market.
