Zakharova noted the unprecedented interference of the West during the elections in Armenia

The parliamentary elections in Armenia were held under unprecedented pressure on the opposition from the authorities and with unprecedented interference from the West. This was announced on June 10 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Unprecedented pressure on the opposition <... > and interference from the West is, in my opinion, unprecedented for this region in the context of electoral processes," she said on Sputnik radio.

According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, such pressure on opposition parties was implemented in the form of a concept by the Armenian authorities themselves.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 9 that Moscow was waiting for an official conclusion on the results of the elections in Armenia. He clarified that the Russian side had seen many reports of potential violations and "unclear moments" during the voting, so now it is important to wait for the results.

Also on June 8, the special coordinator of the OSCE short-term observation mission, Farah Karimi, noted that the election campaign for the parliamentary elections in Armenia was conducted with pressure on the opposition, including arrests and detentions of activists. The election campaign in Armenia, according to the special coordinator, was characterized by a high degree of polarization.

The leader of the Strong Armenia party, Samvel Karapetyan, pointed to possible falsifications and pressure on the opposition. According to him, about 700 people from the politician's party have been arrested, 80 of them have already been sent to prison "for unknown reasons."
