The lawyer explained the mechanism for obtaining compensation for poisoning at the hotel

Russian tourists can claim compensation for moral damage from the tour operator in case of poisoning with food at the hotel. Dmitry Nosov, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law at the O. E. Kutafin University (MGUA), recalled this on June 10.

To do this, it is necessary to collect evidence confirming a causal relationship between the departure and poor-quality food at the hotel.

"The main evidence is medical documents: a certificate or discharge from the hospital where you applied, indicating the diagnosis and time of treatment, as well as a doctor's opinion confirming that the health disorder is caused by poor—quality food," Nosov told TASS.

The tour operator is responsible for the actions of the hotel, therefore, the claim for compensation for moral damage must be presented to him. At the same time, the burden of proving the poor quality of services lies with the victim. If convincing evidence is not provided, the court will not be able to recognize the consumer's position as justified, the lawyer emphasized.

In the Moscow region, two teenagers were fined 15,000 and 20,000 rubles for an offensive image of a teacher.

Andrey Moiseev, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law Sciences at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, also said on May 10 that Russians have the right to demand compensation for moral damage if their photo was published without consent. In the case of aggressive shooting, the actions may qualify as minor hooliganism. The punishment ranges from a fine of 500 rubles to administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
