The EC proposed to impose sanctions on Patriarch Kirill
The European Commission (EC) has proposed adding Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the EU sanctions list as part of the 21st package of restrictions on Russia. This was reported on June 9 by Euronews TV channel.
"The first attempt to put Kirill on the EU blacklist was made in 2022. However, Hungary, under the leadership of then-Prime Minister Viktor Orban, blocked this attempt, calling it an issue of religious freedom," the publication notes.
