The verdict of 27-year-old Ksenia Belousova, who scored a hookah on a cake, was appealed to the court of appeal, follows from the materials available to Izvestia.

It is reported that the complaint was received by the court on June 1, it was filed by Belousova herself or her lawyer, it is not specified.

The defense asked to take into account the positive characteristics of the defendant. In particular, the lawyers provided documents stating that Belousova was baptized and engaged in volunteer activities, providing assistance to orphaned children.

Earlier, the girl was sentenced to three years and 25 days in prison for insulting the feelings of believers. Prior to that, she had already received a suspended sentence for possession of more than 5 grams of mephedrone.

On April 13, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on insulting the feelings of believers against a girl who made a hookah on a cake. The agency found signs of a crime in the hookah girl's publications under Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion"). The sanction of the article provides for a fine of 300 thousand rubles to a year in prison. On the same day, the defendant was detained. She noted that she regretted the deed.

According to investigators, the accused prepared such a hookah when she was in a restaurant in the center of Moscow. The girl herself posted a photo of a cake on her Instagram page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), on which a bowl with coals and tobacco was placed. Later, the girl published an apology post, in which she assured that she did not want to offend anyone.
