Zelensky demanded Europe's participation in negotiations with Russia
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on June 9 that Europe should take part in negotiations with Russia. His speech at the North Baltic Eight summit was broadcast on the official YouTube channel of his office.
"Europe must be present during any negotiations. Europe cannot just be a mediator, because Europe is on our side," the Ukrainian president said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that European states cannot act as intermediaries in negotiations, as for this they would need to remain neutral.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in the Izvestia studio at the SPIEF on June 5 that Russia expects that the pause in the negotiation process to resolve the conflict in Ukraine will be interrupted and contacts between the parties will resume. According to Peskov, Moscow understood from the very beginning that finding a solution would be difficult due to the nature of the problem itself. At the same time, the Russian side continues to maintain contact with the United States through existing channels.
