- The head of the Kizilyurt district estimated the scale of the explosion on the main gas pipeline
The explosion on the main gas pipeline in Dagestan was noticeable even to residents of nearby settlements, whose houses shook as a result of the incident. Magomed-Gadzhiyav Kadiev, acting head of the Kizilyurt district, told Izvestia about this on June 9.
"The explosion was very powerful. People got scared. Even in nearby settlements, people say that houses are shaking," he told Izvestia correspondent Murad Magomedov.
According to Kadiev, there are at least 21 residential buildings located near the gas pipe in the security zone. According to the regulations, this area should not be built up, but the houses were built long before the approval of the general plans and the allocation of protected areas.
"It is not possible to completely demolish the houses today. <...> There is no way to leave people without a home either," said the head of the district.
The explosion at the gas distribution station, which led to a large fire, became known on June 9. The fuel supply has been stopped, and the remaining gas is burning out in the pipe. Fyodor Shchukin, the acting head of the Republic of Dagestan, said he was keeping the situation under personal control.
After the explosions, residents of the village of Nizhny Chiryurt in the Kizilyurt district of Dagestan were completely evacuated. Later, the head of the Kizilyurt district, Magomed-Hajiyav Kadiev, said that the situation at the scene had been stabilized. According to him, the evacuated residents began to return to their homes.
According to Israfil Israfilov, head of the Regional Management Center of the Republic of Dagestan, the cause of the explosion was depressurization. It is noted that operational units were involved on the spot. They will continue to work until the consequences of the incident are completely eliminated.
