Medvedev called Russia's scale both a strength of the country and a challenge for it.

The vast territory of Russia is both an advantage of the country and a serious challenge for its development. This was announced on June 9 by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

"This is a special, unique task. There are not many countries in the world where it is as difficult as in our country. We have such distances that planes sometimes can't cope. This is a challenge that we have yet to overcome," the United Russia party quotes him as saying on its website.
