The State Duma has ordered telecom operators to block fraudsters' numbers
Telecom operators will be required to block numbers used for illegal activities. This became known on June 9 from the updated database of the State Duma.
"The purpose of the bill is to comprehensively improve measures to counter crimes committed using information and communication technologies," the explanatory note says.
The law also provides for the obligation of operators to label foreign calls, as well as the ability of citizens to establish a self-lock on their receipt. In addition, operators will be required to compensate for damage to subscribers if the operators themselves have not fulfilled their obligations to counter fraud.
On the same day, the State Duma passed a law introducing the "red button" service on Gosuslugi, which will allow users to promptly suspend remote money transactions if they suspect a crime has been committed. To protect minors, "child" SIM cards are also being introduced.
