- Over 1.7 billion rubles have been allocated for the development of science cities near Moscow in five years.
The authorities have allocated over 1.7 billion rubles for the socio-economic development of science towns in the Moscow region over the past five years. Igor Bryntsalov, Chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma, told about this on June 9.
"Our region is forming a powerful innovation cluster. These are vibrant, dynamically developing territories that we systematically support. In 2026, about 186 million rubles were allocated for the socio-economic development of science cities, and from 2021 — over 1.7 billion rubles," he said in an interview with TASS.
Bryntsalov noted that this year Dolgoprudny received the status of a science city, which became the eighth in the corresponding list along with Dubna, Zhukovsky, Korolev, Chernogolovka, Serpukhov, Reutov and Fryazino. He specified that more than 250 scientific organizations are currently operating in the Moscow region, employing over 37,000 researchers. He cited Reutov, which has a strong research and production base, as an example of successful development.
"We have built an effective support system for scientists and young specialists in the Moscow region. We are solving one of the most important issues for young researchers — housing. Since 2021, over 150 young scientists and unique specialists have already received social mortgage certificates," the representative of the regional parliament added.
He also recalled that special prizes are provided for young scientists in the region and that Science Cities Day is celebrated on June 9 in the Moscow region. The corresponding date was officially established by the Moscow City Duma five years ago.
On April 14, Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, pointed out that the demand in the country for highly qualified technical staff exceeded supply. Then he pointed out the need for the authorities to build a structure for the training of relevant personnel, taking into account the emerging trend. A month later, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian Federation intends to create technological alliances with other countries, as this will allow it to strengthen its sovereignty and avoid self-isolation.
