The first SUV of the Chinese premium brand Hongqi was named G919. This is stated in the message of the Russian representative office of the brand, which was received by Izvestia on June 9. The production version of the model was shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, when it was noted that the SUV could appear on the Russian market in the future.

According to the Hongqi press service, the name G919 emphasizes "belonging to a new family and the status of a technological breakthrough." The manufacturer expects that the novelty will arouse the interest of both government agencies and security companies, as well as private audiences who love an active lifestyle and "technological independence."

The SUV received a monumental "cubic" silhouette with rectangular blocks of headlights, which refer to the classical canons, but are solved using modern lighting technology. As standard, the car has a reinforced front bumper, power sills, towing lugs, an expedition roof rack, external LED floodlights, as well as fasteners for a spare wheel or an additional case. The wheel arches are designed for the installation of specialized mud tires.

The Hongqi G919 is equipped with a hybrid installation based on a two-liter turbocharged generator engine and four electric motors (one for each wheel). This scheme provides a total power of 843 hp and a peak torque of 1320 Nm. An imitation of differential locking without mechanical losses is provided. A traction lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 63 kWh allows you to travel up to 280 km (CLTC) exclusively on electric power.

The SUV will receive the Huawei Qiankun ADS digital platform of the fifth version with lidar unit on the roof. The system is adapted to work in rough terrain conditions: recognizing fords, rocks, deep ruts and building a detour trajectory. The V2L system allows external equipment to be powered by a battery.

In 2026, Hongqi plans to introduce a redesigned H5 business sedan in Russia. As specified on June 3, the HS3 and HS5 crossovers are expected to be updated in 2027, as well as the new HS6 PHEV hybrid model.
