The number of Ukrainian telephone fraudsters operating against Russian citizens is estimated at about 100,000 people. This was announced on June 9 by Pyotr Ilyichev, Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"As early as 2024, there were about 1.5 thousand telephone fraud centers operating on the territory of Ukraine. The number of episodes involving their participation directed against Russian citizens has tripled compared to the period 2021-2023," Ilyichev said.
According to him, the main centers of concentration of the centers were Dnepropetrovsk (about 500 organizations), Kiev, Odessa, Lviv, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankivsk. The number of Ukrainian citizens involved is estimated at about 100,000. The statement was made at the XIX meeting of the heads of the main divisions of the anti-terrorist structures of the CIS countries.
Sergei Gavrilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations, said on May 27 that fraudsters had recently begun sending fake notices to the owners of dachas. According to him, a person receives a message about an alleged violation of land legislation with a suggestion to click on the link to pay a "discounted fine," after which the attackers gain access to an account on Gosuslugi.
