The State Duma called the conditions of the "Euro-troika" in Ukraine Filkin's letter
On June 9, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Republic of Crimea, criticized the proposals of European leaders to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, calling them a "filmy letter" and an imitation of peacekeeping activities.
The reason for the statement was the results of a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, held at Downing Street.
Following the talks, the meeting participants called on Russia to agree to an immediate and complete ceasefire, suggesting the current line of contact as a starting point for the negotiation process. Other initiatives include providing Ukraine with security guarantees, compensation for damage, and the possible deployment of multinational forces.
"All this is Filkin's literacy and imitation of peaceful activities. Macron, Merz and Starmer talk about negotiations in order to look like peacekeepers in their countries, but in practice they are arming the Kiev regime to launch new attacks on peaceful Russian cities and populations," Sheremet told RIA Novosti.
According to the MP, European leaders continue to support Kiev, while declaring their desire for a peaceful settlement.
As reported by Gazeta. In a joint statement following the meeting, the leaders also announced their intention to develop joint production of long-range weapons and air defense systems for Ukraine, and also expressed support for direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev with the participation of the United States and European countries.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 8 that Macron, Merz and Starmer were talking about peace in Ukraine and at the same time supporting Kiev by continuing the conflict. He added that the actions of European countries in providing military support to Kiev are inconsistent.
On June 7, the leaders of the Eurotroika countries — Great Britain, France and Germany — called for the active participation of European states and the United States in negotiations with Russia on ending the conflict in Ukraine. The meeting participants stressed that Europe must play an important role in any settlement process. In their opinion, further measures should be taken in close cooperation with Kiev, international partners and Washington.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 4 that the European Union should abandon the colonial approach and talk to Russia as an equal partner. He also called on Europe to work with the Russian side to find solutions to "very difficult issues" that are necessary for both Moscow and the eurozone states. Later, on June 5, he called the aggressive policy of the European bureaucracy short-sighted.
