A car explosion in Balashikha, Moscow region. What is known

On June 9, a car exploded in Balashikha, Moscow region, killing the driver. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the incident

The explosion occurred early in the morning at about 5:30 a.m. Moscow time on Koldunov Street in the Aviatorov neighborhood. The driver got into his BMW X3 car, parked near an apartment building, and started driving. Immediately after he turned on the engine and drove off, an explosive device went off. Another car was also damaged.

Eyewitnesses pulled the driver out of the burning cabin. However, the man received multiple injuries, from which he died at the scene, the Investigative Committee reported.

Explosive device

According to the Izvestia source, an explosive device with a capacity of 300-400 grams of TNT was installed in the car. The bomb was placed under the driver's seat. Due to the explosion, the wreckage of the car was scattered all over the street, the vehicle almost completely burned down.

Investigators have launched a search for the criminal who planted the explosive device, the source told Izvestia. The identity of the deceased is not specified.

The reaction of law enforcement agencies

Law enforcement officers, investigators and criminologists arrived at the scene. Andrey Gantsev, Acting Prosecutor of the Moscow Region, instructed the Balashikha city prosecutor to personally coordinate the work of all emergency services at the scene of the tragedy.

The Main Investigation Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow region has opened a criminal case. It is not specified under which articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A set of operational and investigative measures aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident is being carried out.
