Oman Navy rescued 24 Indian sailors from tanker hit by rocket fire

An Omani Navy helicopter crew rescued 24 Indian sailors whose tanker, MT Marivex, came under rocket fire in the Arabian Sea. This was announced on June 9 by the press service of the Indian Coast Guard.

"Rapid reaction <...> after the missile attack on MT Marivex. <...> Having received the information, the MRCC (MRCC. — Marine Rescue Coordination Center. Mumbai immediately began coordination with Oman, ensuring the rescue of 24 people," the agency said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that now the entire crew of the attacked vessel is safe. Helicopters and military personnel were involved in his evacuation, remaining "steadfast in their commitment to protecting the lives of Indians" along the Indian Ocean coast.

The Indian side thanked the Omani side for its assistance and stated that its cooperation at sea with other states is a "key priority."

On May 26, the British Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) reported another tanker attack, which was recorded 60 nautical miles east of Oman's capital. It was noted that in total, at least 52 incidents were detected in this area, as well as in the waters of the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman from February 28 to May 26. These incidents included 28 armed assaults, 22 cases of suspicious activity, and two seizures.
