Romania has effectively lost its economic independence and lost control over its natural resources. This statement was made on June 9 by Diana Shoshoake, a member of the Romanian Senate and the European Parliament.

"We found ourselves in a situation where Bucharest lost control of its own resources. Our natural resources are being developed in the interests of multinational corporations, not the Romanian people," Shoshoake told RIA Novosti.

According to the MEP, following EU directives and dependence on external creditors have led to Romania losing the ability to independently manage its strategic assets.

On June 5, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) that the world is undergoing a global restructuring and the formation of a new architecture of the world economy. According to him, the changes that are taking place are large-scale and affect key processes of international development. Mirziyoyev noted that new economic realities are emerging against the background of these changes.
