Scans of the terrain performed by hundreds of millions of Pokémon GO players could contribute to the American company Niantic Spatial, working in the field of geospatial AI, in the creation and development of a high-precision navigation system used in military drones. This was reported by the NL Times newspaper on June 6.

"Millions of Pokémon Go players, who have been scanning the environment for years in search of in—game rewards, allegedly unknowingly contributed to the creation of a highly detailed navigation system developed by the American company Niantic Spatial, isolated from the original Pokémon Go developer, which will now be used in military drones and robots," the publication says.
