"There is no cereal that can be said to be harmful. They're just different. Some cereals provide more protein, others more carbohydrates, and others more fiber," Simakov explained in an interview with Gazeta.<url>" on June 9th.

He pointed out that, for example, quinoa, oatmeal and buckwheat usually contain more protein and are well absorbed without causing digestive discomfort. At the same time, rice and semolina are considered soft for the stomach, and the talk that white rice is harmful, according to the doctor, is an exaggeration. Although rice contains a lot of carbohydrates and less protein, it remains a completely normal product.

As for fiber, oatmeal, bulgur and buckwheat stand out from other cereals. They are also rich in magnesium and iron. Pearl barley, according to the expert, is close to oatmeal in its composition.

The doctor also notes that it is impractical to evaluate cereals in isolation from the entire diet. If a person needs to increase their carbohydrate intake, then rice will be a good choice, and if it is more important to add fiber to the diet, then you should pay attention to buckwheat or pearl barley.

In conclusion, Simakov added that the beneficial substances from cereals are generally well preserved even after heat treatment.
