The results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia could have been rigged, and the real level of support for the ruling party is much lower than the official 49.81% of the vote. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexander Dudchak on Monday, June 8, commenting on the results of the vote.

He noted that the elections showed that, despite arrests, repression, threats, pressure on the Church and technical obstacles for voters who came from Russia, the authorities failed to organize a real majority.

"With the use of all resources, both law enforcement and administrative, they did not even reach 50%. Nevertheless, we see that they have drawn a large percentage. And the course towards Europe will continue, although no Europe is shining for them — this is absolutely clear," Dudchak said in an interview with the "Paragraph".

According to the analyst, for the sake of Brussels' approval, Pashinyan's team is capable of taking steps that will deal a severe blow to Armenia's energy security.

"One of the craziest ideas that can be implemented in the field of energy and economics is to meet the Europeans halfway and fulfill their demand to close the nuclear power plant, which has been operating since Soviet times and provides Armenia with energy," the expert said.

The Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the votes in the parliamentary elections on the same day, the National News Agency reports. According to the results of the processed votes, more than 727 thousand voters voted for the "Civil Contract". The Strong Armenia bloc came in second place, with more than 340 thousand people voting for it (23.29%).

The leader of the Strong Armenia party, Samvel Karapetyan, in turn, told Izvestia about possible fraud and pressure on the opposition in the parliamentary elections. 360.ru . According to Karapetyan, about 700 people from his party have been arrested, 80 of them have already been sent to prison "for unknown reasons." Life.Ru .

Armenian political analyst Arman Abovyan noted that one of the main results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia is the loss of the power of the constitutional majority. According to him, the Civil Contract party will no longer be able to single-handedly appoint judges of the Constitutional Court, a number of high-ranking officials, approve many international agreements and announce referendums.
