Sollers launched serial production of car security systems in Ulyanovsk

On June 8, Sollers launched mass production of passive safety system components such as steering wheels, airbags and control units at the industrial site in Ulyanovsk. This is stated in the company's information message received by Izvestia.

The company "Components of the Safety System" (CSB) has organized a full cycle of component production: foam filling lines for the production of handlebars; cutting, sewing and assembling airbags; sewing braiding and fitting handlebars; a testing laboratory for validation and serial tests of all products. A production facility has also been established for the manufacture of various control units. The total investment in the project amounted to 1.5 billion rubles, of which 1.2 billion rubles were provided by the Industrial Development Fund (EDF) in the form of a concessional loan, Sollers noted.

"Just a few days ago, the number of projects supported under the specialized program of the Autocomponents Foundation reached hundreds. Today's launch is another confirmation of the effectiveness of this tool, which helped to bring such a large—scale project to the stage of industrialization in a fairly short time. It is critically important for the Russian automotive industry to have its own production of passive safety system components, and Sollers, with its new production facility, will fill a significant need in this segment. It is important that the maximum involvement of local suppliers of sub—components and materials has already been ensured — this is a serious contribution to strengthening the technological independence of the industry," said Albert Karimov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, at the launch ceremony.

As Adil Shirinov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Sollers, emphasized, the new enterprise is a unique Russian manufacturer of key safety components for cars.

"For the first time in the country, steering frames are cast from Russian magnesium alloy, and laser cutting and sewing of pillow materials is implemented with a high level of automation using technology that also has no analogues in Russia. The plans include further localization of all materials and sub—components for the production of airbags, handlebars and seat belts," he said.

The company said that the first domestic safety components and control units will receive Sollers ST6 (CT6), ST8 (CT8) pickups and Sollers SF5 (SF5) light commercial vehicles — deliveries have already started. In the near future, the updated UAZ Patriot, Pickup and Profi models will also be equipped with Ulyanovsk components, and in the future, the entire Sollers model range, including Sollers SF1 (SF1), SF7 (SF7), SP7 (SP7) and ST9 (CT9) cars.
