The court sentenced Khodorkovsky in absentia to 10 years in a penal colony in the case of fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

The Moscow Meshchansky court sentenced Mikhail Khodorkovsky, ex-head of Yukos (recognized as a foreign agent, listed as an extremist and terrorist in the Russian Federation) to 10 years in a penal colony in the case of fakes about the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces). This was announced on June 8 by the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office.

"The sentence was imposed in the form of 10 years of imprisonment in a correctional colony of a general regime, with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the posting of information, the administration of websites and channels using electronic or information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet, for a period of five years," the message says in the messenger of the MAX.

Taking into account the position of the Meshchanskaya Interdistrict prosecutor's office, Khodorkovsky was found guilty under clauses "c, d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation").

On January 27, the Moscow Meshchanskaya interdistrict prosecutor's office approved the indictment against Khodorkovsky. In October 2025, the FSB of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against Khodorkovsky and 22 members of the Anti-War Committee of Russia (AKR, recognized as an undesirable organization in the territory of the Russian Federation). It was clarified that the movement was established in February 2022. His goals are to forcibly seize power and change the constitutional order in Russia.

On February 6, the Moscow City Court recognized Khodorkovsky's book "How to Kill a Dragon" as extremist. The plaintiff described the book as a "handbook for novice revolutionaries." Khodorkovsky is on the federal wanted list.
