- Rakova reported a fourfold increase in the number of large families in Moscow in 15 years
The number of large families in Moscow has quadrupled over the past 15 years and is now approaching 250,000. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Social Development, told about this in an interview with Evening Moscow, dedicated to the Day of the Social Worker.
According to her, the growth in the number of large families indicates that the residents of the city feel confident in the future and count on support from the capital. For its part, the city is actively expanding support measures for metropolitan families.
"In addition, we are developing services that help families cope with life's challenges. Thus, Moscow became a pioneer in the development of state mediation. We see that close people, even in difficult conflict situations, are ready to come to an agreement if they are helped," the deputy mayor said.
Rakova noted that today every Moscow family can turn to a professional mediator to resolve internal disputes. Specialists help to establish relations between parents and children, as well as help resolve conflicts between spouses in order to preserve their marriage, the deputy mayor added.
"But even if the situation turns out to be too difficult and it is impossible to preserve the union, thanks to specialists, the divorce process is more peaceful and environmentally friendly. 70% of couples who applied for help were able to settle disputes without trial," said Rakova.
She stressed that Moscow's experience was highly appreciated at the federal level and could become the basis for similar projects in the regions.
