According to the results of the first week of June, the Russian car market showed an increase in sales in the passenger segment. During this period, 29.4 thousand new passenger cars were sold, which is 5.5% more than a week earlier and almost a quarter (+24.8%) higher than the same week last year. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on June 8.

In the segment of light commercial vehicles (LCVs), weekly sales decreased by 0.5% to 1,450 units (-16.8% compared to the same period last year). Truck registrations (991 units) are 3.1% lower than last week, but 2.7% higher than last year's level. As for the bus segment, it decreased by 10% to 197 units (+11% year-on-year).

According to the analyst, consumer demand remains stable this season, and business continues to experience strong pressure. He suggested that sales in June could exceed the figures for May (110 thousand units), and there is also a chance to break the seasonal record for April (117.5 thousand units).

"At the end of the quarter, many dealers go to maximum discounts and stock sales to fulfill the plan. In addition, given the low exchange rate of the dollar and the yuan, now is the most profitable time to buy a car, including for parallel imports," said Tselikov.

In the spring of 2026, demand for new SUV segment vehicles (crossovers and SUVs) increased by 21.6% in Russia. As noted on June 6, the average price of a car in this segment was 3.8 million rubles.
