The PSB named the key areas for the development of the digital treasury

Digital financial assets, new cross-border settlement infrastructure, and the introduction of artificial intelligence will become key areas for the development of the digital treasury. This was announced by Tatiana Naumlinskaya, Deputy Chairman of the PSB, at the Digital Treasury session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Speaking about digital financial assets (CFAs), Naumlinskaya noted that now they are mostly simple monetary claims, similar to deposits or bonds. According to her, utilitarian digital rights (USPS) and tokenization of real assets may become a new direction of development.

"The new vector is digital currency conversion and tokenization of real assets. In my opinion, this will restart the payment tools. Our development area is to ensure that these are not pilot transactions, but full—fledged implementation," Tatiana Naumlinskaya said. She added that market regulation is likely to be finalized, as the requirements for CFA issuers are still lower than for issuing traditional financial instruments.

Separately, the deputy chairman of the PSB touched upon the topic of the digital ruble, calling it the "third form of money." According to Naumlinskaya, one of the tasks of market participants is to integrate the digital ruble into the existing payment infrastructure, "so that it is convenient, brings additional value to the client, and is transparent and understandable."

Speaking about cross-border settlements, the Deputy Chairman of the PSB noted that in conditions of limited operation of traditional mechanisms, there is a high demand for international transfer tools, which requires the development of alternative solutions. As an example, she cited the A7 platform, created with the participation of the PSB, which offers settlement tools based on bills of exchange and ruble stablecoin.

Naumlinskaya also said that PSB is implementing a long-term digital transformation strategy based on Russian technological solutions, many of which have already implemented AI.
