On the night of June 8, a Ukrainian UAV attacked a passenger train en route from Moscow to Simferopol. As a result, the assistant driver was killed and the driver was injured. The passengers were not injured. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the incident

The incident occurred on the night of June 7-8. The blow landed precisely on the locomotive of train No. 68 Moscow – Simferopol. The drone hit the cabin of a diesel locomotive, said the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov. At the time of the attack, two members of the locomotive crew were in the cabin.

"According to preliminary data, the driver was injured, the assistant driver was killed, the passengers were not injured," Aksyonov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have attempted a massive drone attack on the regions of the Russian Federation. The Air Defense Forces shot down 310 drones overnight, including over Crimea and the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.

Train delays in Crimea

Due to the UAV attack, the transportation operator Grand Service Express decided to suspend the scheduled movement of all trains on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. Passengers of all trains on the territory of the republic, including the affected train, were evacuated by buses to Simferopol.

As of 9:00 Moscow time, nine trains traveling to and from Crimea were delayed. Among them are trains from Mineralnye Vody, Adler and Moscow. Trains that were supposed to leave the peninsula were also stopped.: three to Moscow and one to Murmansk. The delay ranges from 3.5 hours to 10 hours.

The Southern Suburban Passenger Company added that commuter trains running in Crimea on the Simferopol – Dzhankoy and Armyansk – Dzhankoy routes were temporarily suspended for technical reasons.

The authorities' reaction to the attack

Aksyonov expressed his condolences to the family of the driver's assistant who died in the attack and wished the injured driver well. He stressed that the authorities would provide the necessary support.

The Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office took control of the investigation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on the train. The Crimean transport prosecutor arrived at the scene. He coordinates the activities of law enforcement agencies and emergency services.

Aksyonov reported on June 4 that one person was killed and seven injured due to an attack by an APU drone on a commuter train traveling from Azov to Kerch. The family of the deceased and all the injured will be provided with all necessary assistance and support.

The head of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), Leonid Pasechnik, announced at the same time that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had attacked a commuter train en route Lugansk – Lantratovka. According to Pasechnik, there were no casualties as a result of the attack. The head of the region clarified that there were 13 passengers in the vehicle. Because of this, passenger transportation was temporarily restricted in the republic.
