Paternity leave could be an additional measure of support for Russian families with children. This was announced on June 8 by Sergey Rybalchenko, Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Demography, protection of family, children and traditional family values, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"If a father, at the birth of a third child in the same family, could receive paternal capital in the amount of 2 million rubles, in fact, for an additional 18 square meters. They say I think this tool would definitely work," Rybalchenko told RIA Novosti.

According to him, such a measure should additionally encourage families with three children who were born in the same marriage. As Rybalchenko noted, in 40% of cases, women with many children no longer work, and the additional burden is placed on fathers. Father's capital can also become an additional incentive for housing construction, he stressed.

Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, noted on June 5 on the sidelines of the SPIEF that parents with many children should be transferred to a flexible work schedule during the summer school holidays. According to him, the measure is relevant due to the closure of schools and kindergartens for the holidays, as not everyone has the opportunity to organize child care.
