- The LDPR asked the Prosecutor General's Office to check the safety of rides throughout the Russian Federation
LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky sent an appeal to the First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Anatoly Razinkin with a request to conduct safety checks during the operation of attractions in Russian regions. It follows from the document cited by TASS on June 8.
"The LDPR appeals to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to conduct total inspections of all attractions in the regions and identify dangerous objects before they lead to new victims," Slutsky said.
The appeal notes that the current legislation establishes mandatory requirements for registration, technical condition and supervision of attractions, however, violations that endanger the life and health of citizens continue to be recorded in some regions.
Examples of similar incidents include the case in 2022 at the Limpopo Zoo in Nizhny Novgorod, where minors were injured, as well as the incident in 2026 in Sterlitamak, when a 12-year-old child was seriously injured and was hospitalized by helicopter.
Slutsky stressed that a significant part of the attractions across the country are operated in a faulty condition, without state registration and with staff who do not have the necessary qualifications. He noted that the operation of attractions is a high-risk activity and requires strict compliance with safety standards.
In May, a 12-year-old schoolboy was injured in Sterlitamak after riding the Waltz Shell carousel. In a conversation with Izvestia, his mother's friend reported that the ride operator had started the mechanism without making sure that the child was strapped in. She added that the boy was taken by sanitation to Ufa — he spent several days in intensive care. The investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan reported that a criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers, which negligently caused serious harm to human health").
