Two-time Olympic silver medalist in swimming Yulia Yefimova said on June 7 that she was thinking about retiring before she was selected for the European Championships.

Earlier that day, the athlete fulfilled the standard for participation in the European Aquatics Championships in the 50 m breaststroke. At the Russian Championships, she finished second with a score of 30.55 seconds.

"There is pressure from the fact that I have to finish. I would like more support, but we'll figure it out if I keep swimming. <...> I thought it would be my last start soon, but now I've qualified for the European Championships," Sport-Express quotes the swimmer as saying.

Two-time Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov held his last swim on June 6 after the opening ceremony of the Russian Championships in Kazan.
