Trump expressed readiness for direct talks with Khamenei
On June 7, US President Donald Trump expressed readiness to hold direct talks with Iran's Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei in case of interest from the Iranian side.
"I would have done it if he wanted to," Trump said in an interview with NBC.
At the same time, the American leader clarified that to date he had not yet had direct contacts with the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic. Trump also noted the "certain bravery" of the Iranian leader. During the interview, the politician refused to directly answer the question of whether the United States has information about Khamenei's current whereabouts.
"I don't want to say whether I know where he is or not. But there is a high probability that I know," Trump added.
On June 3, Trump expressed confidence that Khamenei was involved in Tehran's negotiation process with Washington. In addition, the head of the White House noted that he would like to meet with the Iranian leader. In his opinion, after the conflict is over, they should meet in person.
