Netanyahu announced his intention to expand control in Gaza to 70% of territories
Israel intends to expand its military presence in the Gaza Strip in the near future, while establishing control over 70% of the territory. This was announced on June 7 by Prime Minister of the Jewish state Benjamin Netanyahu at a weekly government meeting.
"In the Gaza Strip, we are squeezing Hamas from all sides, at the moment we control more than 60% of the strip's territory, and we will soon reach 70%," the office of the head of government quoted him as saying on the social network X (former. Twitter).
Netanyahu also said that Israel would not allow Hamas to arm itself and launch strikes. He added that one of the tasks is to eliminate the senior leaders of the organization.
The Axios portal reported on June 2 that American leader Donald Trump, in a telephone conversation with Netanyahu, sharply criticized his actions in the Middle East, calling the Israeli prime minister crazy. It was noted that Trump was concerned about the high number of civilian deaths, as well as the destruction of entire buildings in order to eliminate several Hezbollah commanders.
Netanyahu also instructed the Israeli army on May 31 to expand the operation against Hezbollah and strengthen control over the movement's territories. According to him, the IDF crossed the Litani River, captured strategic areas and took control of the Beaufort Ridge.
