Germany declared the impossibility of security in Europe without Russia

Europe's security is possible only through cooperation with Russia. This was stated on June 7 by Bundestag deputy from the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Steffen Kotre.

"Security is possible only with Russia, not against Russia. Therefore, it would be logical to start a dialogue again," Cotre said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The parliamentarian noted at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) that a large number of ideologically motivated decisions directed against Moscow's interests are being made at the European Union (EU) level. According to Cotre, representatives of the EU and official Berlin are using aggressive rhetoric.

According to the MP, European politicians are not yet ready to choose a course for peaceful economic cooperation and further partnership in the field of security.

The Russian Federation does not refuse to negotiate with Europe, but demands respect for the interests of the country.

On June 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a speech at the SPIEF 2026 plenary session, called the aggressive policy of the European bureaucracy short-sighted. According to him, the actions of the European elites affect not only the economic situation, but also international security issues.

A day earlier, the Russian leader said that the European Union (EU) should abandon the colonial approach and talk to Russia as an equal partner. He also called on Europe to work with Russia to find solutions to "very difficult issues" that are necessary for both Moscow and the eurozone states.
