Brazil and Argentina won friendly matches before the 2026 World Cup
On June 6, the national teams of Brazil and Argentina achieved victories in friendly matches in preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Brazilians beat the Egyptian team 2-1 in Cleveland (Ohio, USA). Bruno Guimaraes opened the scoring in the 7th minute, but four minutes later Mostafa Zico regained his balance. Endrik scored the winning goal in the 52nd minute, Sport-Express reports.
Both teams will compete at the World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Brazil will face Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in the group stage, while Egypt will play against Belgium, Iran and New Zealand.
Also on the night of June 7, Moscow time, the current world champions, the Argentines, confidently beat the Honduran national team with a score of 2:0.
In other friendly matches, the Curacao national team defeated the Aruban team 4-0, and Turkey defeated Venezuela 2-1.
The Portuguese national football team defeated Chile on June 6 in a friendly match before the 2026 World Cup. Gonzalo Guedes scored in the 58th minute and Bruno Fernandes in the 75th minute. Lucas Cepeda scored the only goal of the Chilean national team in added time.
