The political situation in Armenia before the elections, expert opinions

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan uses an administrative resource to mobilize supporters before the parliamentary elections, political analyst Tigran Kocharyan said in an interview with Izvestia. According to him, opposition rallies are usually attended only by party activists or private sector employees who are independent of the state, although they are also under pressure.

"People are mostly not ready to join the European Union, because everyone has relatives in Russia, and everyone receives money transfers from Russia, which amount to almost as much as the Armenian budget," Grigor Balasanyan, an international expert, told Izvestia.

He stated that the republic's economy is closely linked to Russia and the EAEU countries, and the transition to the European vector may lead to an increase in energy costs and deprive the country of benefits in the Russian space.

"Of course, what is happening, especially in the last few days, against the background of how Pashinyan did not win the debate, to put it mildly, is classic repression," political analyst Beniamin Matevosyan assessed the actions of the authorities against the opposition.
