Russian athletes will be able to compete with the flag in 12 Olympic sports
Russian athletes are allowed to participate in competitions with the national flag and anthem in 12 Olympic sports. This was announced on June 7 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
"Adult athletes are fully allowed to compete with the flag, anthem and national symbols in 12 Olympic sports," he told RIA Novosti at the SPIEF.
Chernyshenko specified that adult athletes will be able to fully perform with national symbols in judo and wrestling, swimming, synchronized swimming, diving and water polo, athletic and rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline jumping, boxing, taekwondo and fencing.
According to him, Russia sees a willingness for dialogue on the part of the International Olympic Committee, which will allow athletes to participate in competitions while preserving national symbols.
