US President Donald Trump has brought relations between Russia and the United States out of the impasse into which former American President Joe Biden led them. This was announced on June 6 by Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

"We must pay tribute to Trump, who brought the situation between Russia and the United States out of the negotiating impasse into which Biden plunged it," he said at the final SPIEF 2026 press conference.

Kobyakov added that relations between Russia and the United States are gradually recovering.

The head of the American Commission on Fine Arts, Rodney Cook, conveyed greetings from Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SPIEF 2026 plenary session on June 5. He also expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for the invitation to the forum and confessed his love for St. Petersburg.

The United States sent its delegation to the SPIEF among more than 130 other countries, which also included France, Austria, Romania, Britain and Switzerland. One of the members of this American group, Cook Jr., said on June 3 that he had received permission to travel to St. Petersburg not only from the US State Department, but also from Trump.
